Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have overrun a makeshift terrorist camp in Tungan Kudaduku, Anka Local Government Area of Zamfara State, rescuing five kidnapped victims during a counter-terrorism operation. Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danjal, Media Information Officer, Joint Task Force (North West) Operation FANSAN YAMMA, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, July 15 July 2026. According to the statement, the operation was launched following credible intelligence indicating that a group of armed terrorists riding about 10 motorcycles had been sighted in Kawaye heading towards Tungan Kudaduku. Acting on the intelligence, troops swiftly mobilised a fighting patrol to intercept the terrorists. On making contact, the troops engaged the fleeing terrorists in a fierce gun battle, forcing them to abandon the area and retreat into the surrounding bush. A thorough search of the area led to the discovery of the terrorists makeshift camp, where five kidnapped victims were found and rescued unharmed. "All rescued victims have been handed over to the appropriate authorities for further care and support, the statement added. Troops continue to dominate the general area, denying terrorists freedom of action and sustaining pressure on criminal elements operating across the theatre.
