Sophia Momodu sends notice of intended legal proceedings to Caroline Hutchings; demands retraction, public apology and ₦10 Billion in damages

Actress and reality television personality Caroline Hutchings, popularly known as Caroline Danjuma, has been served with a Notice of Intended Legal Proceedings by businesswoman Sophia Momodu, demanding an immediate retraction, an unreserved public apology, substantial monetary compensation and other reliefs over an alleged defamatory social media publication. The Notice, issued by Prince (Dr.) Richard Oma Ahonaruogho, SAN, Principal Counsel of Ahonaruogho, Ahonaruogho & Co. (Paradise Law Firm), alleges that a Snapchat post made by Caroline Hutchings was widely interpreted by members of the public as referring to Sophia Momodu, resulting in serious reputational harm, emotional distress and sustained cyberbullying. The dispute stems from a Snapchat post made by Caroline Hutchings in which she alleged that a woman she had once defended on national television had been involved with her former partner while they were still in a relationship. The post read: Funny how I pretend I am stupid but I know the girl I defended on national TV was sleeping with my man while I was with him. Now my ex She was in clubs with her American friends twerking on him. I act like I dont see it but I see it all. "Posting his cars and sh!t Now I know why your baby daddy didnt choose you. You are dirt. You sleep with your friends man. You pretend like you like us, but you sleep with your friends man. "Yet you post pictures like you are good. Girl, you are dirt. The dirtiest part of dirt. Will never defend you again, piece of sh!t. "She will like your page and show you fake love, checking up on you Dirty piece of condemned sh!t you will always be. "Yeah Im a lover. I respect peoples relationships. You dirty clown.  Although Caroline Hutchings did not expressly mention anyone by name, the Notice states that the publication generated widespread speculation across social media, with numerous users identifying Sophia Momodu as the person allegedly being referred to. According to the Notice, the resulting online reactions subjected Sophia Momodu to cyberbullying, ridicule, malicious comments and attacks on her character, integrity and reputation. The Notice further states that, in an effort to resolve the matter amicably without resorting to litigation, Sophia Momodu personally reached out to Caroline Hutchings on 3rd July 2026, requesting that if the publication was not directed at her, she should issue a public clarification on the same platform stating that Sophia Momodu was not the person referred to. According to the Notice, despite receiving the message, Caroline Hutchings neither responded nor issued any clarification, allowing the speculation and public narrative to continue. The legal notice states that the publication caused Sophia Momodu considerable embarrassment, emotional distress, reputational harm and injury to her standing among members of the public, her family, friends, business associates and society at large. Consequently, Sophia Momodus solicitors are demanding that Caroline Hutchings:* Publish an unequivocal retraction and an unreserved public apology on all her social media platforms.* Publish the same apology in national newspapers with nationwide circulation.* Pay substantial monetary compensation to Sophia Momodu for the reputational harm, emotional distress and embarrassment allegedly occasioned by the publication.* Provide a written undertaking that she will refrain from making or publishing any statement capable of directly or indirectly defaming Sophia Momodu in the future. According to the Notice, failure to comply with the demands within the stipulated period will result in the commencement of legal proceedings seeking, among other reliefs, 10 billion in general, aggravated and exemplary damages, 50 million as solicitors professional fees, an order compelling a public retraction and apology, a perpetual injunction restraining further defamatory publications, and such further orders as the Court may deem fit. The Notice is signed by Prince (Dr.) Richard Oma Ahonaruogho, SAN, Principal Counsel of Ahonaruogho, Ahonaruogho & Co. (Paradise Law Firm). See the notice below. The post Sophia Momodu sends notice of intended legal proceedings to Caroline Hutchings; demands retraction, public apology and 10 Billion in damages appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.
