The National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Rauf Aregbesola, has claimed that he did not own a personal house throughout his eight-year tenure as the governor of Osun State. Addressing supporters in a video circulated on Thursday, July 23, 2026, the former Minister of Interior stated he resided in a friends home for the duration of his 20102018 tenure. Aregbesola declared himself the first Nigerian governor to govern for two terms without personal property, inviting public scrutiny of his claim. [1, 2] Im the first governor in Nigeria to govern a state for eight years without owning a house of my own. I stayed in my friends house for eight years as governor in my fatherland. Whoever says what Im saying is not true should come out and show me the house I own.he said Aregbesola governed Osun State from 2010 to 2018 before serving as Minister of Interior under former President Muhammadu Buhari.
