Bernardo Silva signs two-year deal with Real Madrid

Portugal international Bernardo Silva has completed a move to Real Madrid on a two-year contract after leaving Manchester City at the end of his deal, the Spanish club confirmed on Wednesday, June 17.In a statement, Real Madrid announced that Silva will remain at the Santiago Bernabu until June 30, 2028, ending a successful nine-year spell with Manchester City. Real Madrid C.F. and Bernardo Silva have reached an agreement for him to become a Real Madrid player for the next two seasons, until June 30, 2028, the club said. The 31-year-old midfielder departs Manchester City as one of the clubs most decorated players, having made 459 appearances and scored 76 goals since arriving from Monaco in 2017. During his time under Pep Guardiola, Silva won 20 major trophies, including six Premier League titles and the UEFA Champions League in 2023.Silva also played a key role in Citys historic treble-winning campaign in 2023 and was part of the side that secured four consecutive Premier League titles between 2021 and 2024. The Portuguese star, who has earned 109 caps for his country, is currently on international duty at the FIFA World Cup and is expected to feature in Portugals Group K opener against DR Congo in Houston. His move comes as Real Madrid continue a major squad rebuild following a disappointing campaign in which they finished eight points behind Barcelona in La Liga and were eliminated in the Champions League quarter-finals. The club recently appointed Jos Mourinho as head coach after president Florentino Prez secured re-election earlier this month.Madrid have also strengthened their squad with the signing of Spanish left-back Marc Cucurella from Chelsea in a deal reportedly worth 55 million. The Spanish giants are additionally linked with Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konat and Inter Milan wing-back Denzel Dumfries as they seek to reinforce the squad ahead of the new season.Meanwhile, German defender Antonio Rdiger recently extended his contract with the club until 2027. Silvas arrival is expected to add experience, creativity and versatility to Madrids midfield as the club looks to challenge for major honours once again. The post Bernardo Silva signs two-year deal with Real Madrid appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.
