A 19-year-old woman, identified simply as Ejiro, has escaped back to Nigeria after a harrowing human trafficking ordeal in Ivory Coast that left her surgically mutilated. Ejiro told authorities that her fathers friend lured her to Ivory Coast with the promise of a legitimate job. Upon arrival, however, the traffickers informed her that she had been brought there for "prostitution." When she refused to comply, the situation turned violent. According to the victim, her traffickers forcibly took her to an unidentified doctor who performed a surgery to remove her womb. She said when the injury from the surgery refused to heal, they moved her from Ivory Coast and dumped her in Lagos. From Lagos, she managed to find her way back to her home state of Delta. The Delta State Police Command confirmed the arrest of two suspects, including a close female associate of the victim's father, in connection with the crime. The spokesperson for the Command, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed that an investigation led to the immediate arrest of the primary suspect and an accomplice. During interrogation, the fathers friend reportedly confessed to the crime, admitting she received a payment of N400,000 from the traffickers to deliver the teenager.
