Jermaine Grant has appeared before Westminster Magistrates Court accused of directing the activities of the Somalia-based terrorist group Al-Shabaab.The 43-year-old British national is alleged to have attended Al-Shabaab training camps, received commando training, and risen to the role of a platoon leader. Prosecutors claim he took part in multiple battles in Somalia and handled firearms during the conflict.During the brief hearing, Grant confirmed his identity but entered no pleas. He was remanded in custody by District Judge Nina Tempia, with the case adjourned until April 16 pending approval from the Attorney General to proceed with prosecution.According to the charges, Grant is accused of directing the groups activities between late 2007 and early 2010. He also faces counts related to possession of an AK-47 rifle during battles in Karan and Mogadishu Stadium, as well as attending terrorist training camps in Kismayu.The case follows an investigation by Counter Terrorism Policing London.
