Teacher of the Year Finalist refused to cut ties with student she had s3x with  even after being arrested and charged

A former Colorado Teacher of the Year finalist, Tera Johnson-Swartz, has been sentenced to 14 years in prison after being convicted in two criminal cases involving a 16-year-old student.Authorities said the former teacher groomed the student through text messages, shared music playlists, and substance use before engaging in a sexual relationship with him. The case first came to light in January 2025, months after Johnson-Swartz had been named a finalist for the states Teacher of the Year award. She was immediately suspended, later dismissed from her role at STEM School Highlands Ranch, and banned from campus. Investigators said she was later arrested and charged with multiple offences, including sexual assault on a minor, kidnapping, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Despite being released on bail and ordered to have no contact with the student, Johnson-Swartz reportedly continued communicating with him, leading to a second arrest. According to court documents, the two later encountered each other at a music venue, after which she allegedly continued to send messages to the teenager. The student, who cooperated with investigators, described her actions as unstable and expressed surprise that she continued to reach out despite the legal consequences. Prosecutors condemned her actions, stating she had abused her position of trust and would now face long-term consequences for her conduct. The post Teacher of the Year Finalist refused to cut ties with student she had s3x with even after being arrested and charged appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.
