Fire k!lls father and his 6-year-old daughter in Minna



A devastating midnight fire has claimed the lives of a father and his daughter in Minna, Niger State.  The incident occurred at St. Andrew Anglican Church, in the Sabon Gari area of Minna on March 2, 2026.  The victims, Ikechukwu Michael Njoku, 45, sustained severe burns while trying to rescue his daughter and passed away on March 16.   His 6-year-old daughter, Esther, d!ed instantly while his wife and 3 other children were badly injured.   The survivors are currently in IBB Specialist Hospital Minna fighting for life.   Father and daughter will be laid to rest on March 27, 2026 in their hometown, Mebiokpa Okposi Ohozara, Ebonyi State. Around 2:am, on 2nd March 2026, a devastating fire broke out in Mr Ikechukwu house at St Andrew Anglican Church, Sabon Gari Minna Niger State (My elder in church), A Facebook user, Offor Oscar Onyinye wrote. The man woke up to the smell of smoke and the sight of flames taking over. Without hesitation, he rushed into the fire to rescue his daughter who was lying inside childrens room.  But sadly, the fire was too much. His daughter died instantly. He managed to come out, but with severe burns. For one week, he fought for his life hoping to survive for his family. But the injuries were too serious, and he passed away on 16th of March 2026.  The wife and their 3 children survived the fire, but they were badly injured and are currently in IBB Specialist Hospital Minna, battling to recover. In just one night, a family lost so much a father gone, a daughter gone, and others left in pain and trauma. Life is so fragile. Rest in peace Mr Ikechukwu, you are a true hero.
