Seven k!lled in fresh Plateau attacks



At least seven persons have been k!lled and one injured in fresh attacks in Jos South, Barkin Ladi and Bassa Local Government Areas of Plateau State. The National President of the Berom Youth Moulder-Association (BYM), Solomon Dalyop, said the victims were attacked at a mining site in the Gero community.  According to him, the incident occurred at about 9:34 a.m. on Wednesday, January 7, 2026.  Dalyop said the assailants opened fire on miners at the site, forcing others to flee for safety. In a related incident, BYM spokesperson Rwang Tengwong reported that one person was k!lled by armed men near the Foron community in Barkin Ladi LGA. During the attack, Mr. Ayuba Pam Choji, aged 44, was brutally st@bbed to d3ath, Tengwong said. A lone survivor, who was riding on the same motorcycle with the deceased, narrated that the assailants suddenly emerged from hiding and attacked them without provocation. He added that the eyewitness claimed the attackers had earlier stationed themselves around the Bisichi axis, where they allegedly issued threats and an ultimatum for residents to vacate the area on or before January 7, 2026. After the attack, the assailants were reportedly seen fleeing back towards the Bisichi area. The BYM accused members of the Fulani ethnic group of carrying out the attacks. In a similar incident, the President of Irigwe Youth Movement, Joseph Chudu Yonkpa, disclosed that one Mr. James Jatau from Hwrra was waylaid and killed by suspected Fulani militias along Zirshe-Maiyanga road on January 5 in Bassa Local Government Area of the state.   The post Seven k!lled in fresh Plateau attacks appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.
