The owners of Jameson, a pet dog shot and killed by a Los Angeles police officer during the NBA Finals last month, have filed a lawsuit against the City of Los Angeles, alleging excessive force and negligence.According to legal documents obtained by TMZ, Jameson's owners, Marie Marseille and Jeremiah Garcia, claim the officer's use of deadly force was excessive and unreasonable, amounting to an unlawful seizure of their property. They are also seeking damages for negligence. The incident occurred after police responded to a welfare check at Marseille's apartment following reports that she had been heard screaming. Officers later discovered she was celebrating the New York Knicks' NBA Championship victory.According to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), officers instructed Marseille to keep Jameson under control, but the dog allegedly charged toward them, prompting an officer to open fire. The shooting sparked public outrage after body camera footage of the incident was released.Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass called for a "thorough and transparent" investigation, while LAPD Chief Jim McDonnell said the department would conduct a comprehensive review of the shooting. The lawsuit seeks an unspecified amount in damages, including compensation and legal costs. The post Family that owns dog k!lled by LAPD officers during Knicks game celebration sues city appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.
