Many trapped as three-storey building collapses in Rivers



A three-storey building under construction has collapsed in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. The incident occurred on Wednesday, June 24, 2026 behind Eternal Filling Station, opposite Chief Sam Ngbor Avenue, off the busy Peter Odili Road.  Construction workers were reportedly on site when the building caved in, trapping some of them beneath the rubble. According to some residents, several workers were trapped following the collapse and called for an urgent emergency response. Officials of relevant agencies arrived at the scene shortly after the incident and commenced rescue operations. No fatalities had been confirmed as of the time of filing this report. The cause of the collapse remains unknown. The spokesperson of the Rivers State Police Command, ASP Blessing Agabe, who confirmed the incident to Daily Trust, saying two persons had been rescued and taken to hospital. She added that rescue operations were ongoing to determine whether any other persons remained trapped in the rubble.   The post Many trapped as three-storey building collapses in Rivers appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.
