A 52-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly pouring hot cooking oil on his wife in Lundazi District, Zambia. Eastern Province Police Commanding Officer Robertson Mweemba confirmed the development, stating that the incident occurred on April 13, 2026, around 23:00 hours in Chikaya Compound and was reported the following day at Lundazi Police Station. The victim identified as 34-year-old Ketina sustained injuries including a bruised and swollen face, as well as injuries to her left ear, eye, and neck. Reports indicate that both the victim and her husband had gone for work earlier that day, leaving their four children in the care of a maid. After work, Ms. Ketina reportedly visited a friend and returned home around 22:00 hours. A marital dispute arose when she was questioned about her whereabouts, which later escalated into violence, leading to the suspect allegedly pouring hot cooking oil on her face. Mr. Mweemba said police acted swiftly and apprehended the suspect, who has since been formally charged with Assault (GBV) and is expected to appear in court on April 15, 2026.
