The Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) Zone 2, Olohundare Moshood Jimoh, has ordered an immediate halt to the transfer of cases from the Lagos and Ogun commands to the zonal headquarters, directing commissioners of police in both states to take full responsibility for investigations within their jurisdictions. The directive was issued on Thursday, April 16, during his maiden strategic security meeting with Commissioners of Police in Lagos and Ogun states. Jimoh emphasized that all investigations must now be handled within respective state commands, ensuring faster resolution and improved oversight. Where there are petitions of lapses or grievances, I will still refer them to the commands for the CPs to address and report back to me, he said. The zonal police boss added that in cases requiring specialised investigative support, experts would be deployed from the zonal headquarters to assist commands in resolving such matters swiftly and bringing perpetrators to justice. The AIG noted that security in both Lagos State and Ogun State remains stable, with notable progress recorded in crime prevention. There have been significant successes in crime prevention and control, he said. Jimoh ordered both commands to scale up efforts against violent crimes through proactive policing strategies. People-centred policing strategies are already yielding results, he noted. The police chief issued a stern warning to officers, stressing the importance of professionalism and discipline.
